Self-Publishing

|
There is another alternative
to the long waiting and the disappointment of rejection that
comes dealing with the major publishing houses. More and
more writers are taking their fate in their own hands and
turning towards self publication. While this does involve a
greater risk on the author's part initially, it can be a great
opportunity for first time writer's to actually get published.
Here are more advantages:
- Book Rights. The author
retains all rights to the book.
- Higher income opportunity.
Authors receive the net income from each sale after direct
costs have been deducted rather than the standard down
payment and royalty contract, which usually doesn't amount
to much more than 5% for first time writers.
- Control. Authors makes
all decisions regarding their book, ie., what the size
will be, how many colors will be used, how much the book
should cost, who will illustrate it, should it be
paperback or hardback, should it have a dust jacket...
